The Alumni Tennis Tournament, the first event of the CTT Alumni Association 25th Anniversary weekend was played at Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club on Thursday 22 May. Again this year the competition for the doubles Alumni Cup was very keen. Following nearly four hours of tennis the players and spectators enjoyed an enjoyable lunch at Fitzwilliam. The winners were Aileen Sheahan and Mary O’Neill. (All the gentlemen players were knocked out in the earlier rounds)

Enjoying Le Drunch at Gala Weekend

Here’s a group having a great lunch at the “Le Drunch” gathering on the Sunday of the Gala weekend. It seems to be mostly ex-colleagues from the Europe offices, gourmands, of course. More images under Galleries/ Gala Weekend

John Percival Lovegrove RIP

crossw-Percy-signing-his-bookThe great and unique Percy Lovegrove, one of the few survivors from the earliest days of CTT, passed away quietly on Saturday night last, June 15, after a short illness.
He will be long remembered and with great fondness by those who worked with him, at home and abroad, in his capacity as Head of the Promotions Dept. for many years.
He retired from CTT in 1982 and then continued to pursue a variety of his personal interests, including horticulture, and recently published his memoires in the form of the book “The Auld Cockle Picker-an Autobiography of a Well Travelled Man”. Our sympathies go to his extensive family. May you rest in peace, Percy.

Splendid Gala weekend, everyone delighted ..

It was a really great weekend, for a large gathering of former colleagues and some spouses.

Visitors came from Belgium, Germany and other countries. Dozens attended the various activities, golf, tennis, culture tours, brunches and dinners, with the Gala Dinner on Saturday night being booked to the capacity number of 150 at the Thomas Prior Hall in Ballsbridge. Our collection of images taken by participants during the weekend is now open for additions and can be viewed under the Galleries link above.

And keep in touch with former colleagues with whom, undoubtedly, old friendships were renewed during the Gala weekend.
